With the demand for travel quickly picking back up, many families are looking to share the adventure and reunite with their loved ones. We know traveling with a variety of age ranges can be tricky, so we caught up with Vicki Freed, Senior Vice President, Sales and Trade Support & Service for Royal Caribbean International, to find out why RCI is a great option for multi-gen travel.
Q: What makes Royal Caribbean the perfect cruise option for multi-gen travel?
From family hangouts at the Rock-Climbing Wall to dazzling ice shows and onshore excitement in the Caribbean, Europe and beyond, there’s something for everyone onboard a Royal Caribbean cruise.
Kids can have fun and explore with our complimentary Award-winning Adventure Ocean Youth Program. Mom and Dad can unwind at the VitalitySM Spa, try their luck at Casino Royale, and indulge at specialty restaurants. Teens leave that “whatever” attitude behind for pool parties, and hangouts made just for them. Plus, TLC for our tiniest cruisers, with Royal Babies and TotsSM Nursery and educational programs.
Q: What activity options are available for families onboard Royal Caribbean ships?
A Royal Caribbean cruise has plenty of activities that bring the whole family together. Thrilling features you won’t find on any other cruise line include the tallest slide at sea, Ultimate AbyssSM, FlowRider surf simulators, onboard zip lines, glow-in-the-dark laser tag, Escape Room challenges and more.
You can also enjoy celebrated Broadway hits, like the musicals Grease, Mamma Mia! and Tony Award® winners, CATS and Hairspray. Plus, Royal Caribbean production originals that amaze on stage, on ice, in the air, and in water at our incredible AquaTheater.
Q: What types of family activities are available on your private destination, Perfect Day at CocoCay?
At Perfect Day at CocoCay, you’ll discover endless ways to fill your day with one-of-a-kind experiences designed to cultivate more lasting memories at every turn. For an adrenaline rush head straight to Thrill Waterpark. You can’t miss Daredevil’s Peak, the tallest waterslide slide in North America. You’ll find another set of adventures at Thrill Waterpark’s other set of slides designed for multiple riders. On the slingshot, four can share a raft and a zero-gravity moment before freefalling.
Kids can enjoy another waterpark just for them at Splashaway Bay. They’ll have buckets of fun with five waterslides and two massive drench buckets plus, fountains, pools and more. For even more splashes and giggles, take them for a visit to Captain Jill’s Galleon, where they’ll have a blast firing water cannons and unleashing their inner pirate.
If the pool is your preferred way to get wet, the island boasts the largest freshwater pool in the Caribbean, Oasis Lagoon. Make your way through the different coves each with a vibe all its own or splash right in at the kid-friendly sloping entry. When the day is done, don’t miss the chance to capture the most dramatic sunset pic ever on a flight 450 feet above the island on the Up, Up, and Away helium balloon.
Q: Does Royal Caribbean offer any accommodations and dining options perfect for families?

Q: BONUS: If you could recommend one Royal Caribbean voyage that’s perfect for multi-gen travelers, which would you recommend, and why?
An Eastern or Western Caribbean cruise onboard our newest ship, Odyssey of the SeasSM, with a stop at Perfect Day at CocoCay! Odyssey of the Seas is our first Quantum-Ultra class ship setting sail from Fort Lauderdale this Summer. Get your game on at the largest SeaPlex® ever, hit the Sky Pad bungee trampoline or enjoy breath taking views from 300 feet above sea level in our signature observation capsule, North Star.
