We spoke with Mark about the beautiful islands of the South Pacific.

Q: What are the leading islands of the South Pacific for travelers?

The South Pacific is a tremendously diverse region which includes the islands of Tahiti (French Polynesia), Fiji, Cook Islands, Samoa and many more.

Q: What are the top sights in the region?

There are literally thousands of amazing sights, one-of-a-kind activities, and adventures in the South Pacific. The best that come to mind in the islands are:

  • Aitutaki in the Cook Islands – no high rises to be found here
  • Fiji where you will find some of the happiest locals on earth, not to mention colorful coral, private Islands and accommodations to suit all budgets. A Kava drinking ceremony is a must
  • French Polynesia – home to 180 Islands the most famous being Bora Bora renowned for its overwater bungalows

Q: Who should travel to the South Pacific and why?

Everyone should experience the South Pacific at least once! Whether you are on a honeymoon, retired or traveling with your family, the South Pacific has the perfect vacation destination just for you.

You’ll not only experience some of the most friendly people and hospitable places in the world, but the most incredible scenery- crystal clear waters, colorful coral and marine life, lush mountains rising from the sea coupled with some intriguing food and drink offerings.

Q: Can you describe the people and culture?

European and Pacific Island cultures intersperse in one of the most diverse regions in the world.  You’ll also meet some of the friendliest on earth. Each country has its own culture. In Tahiti the primary language is French while in Fiji it is common to be invited to the village to enjoy a Kava ceremony with the Chief. Every island has its own unique features.

Q: How do you get from Island to Island?

Depending on where you may be, there’s regular ferry service, chartered boats or inter island flights.

Q: Are there any amazing attributes to the South Pacific that cannot be found anywhere else in the world?

Many and varied - over-water bungalows, tropical rainforests which grow down to the beach and spectacular coral reefs teeming with sea life.

Q: Where are the top diving spots in the South Pacific?

Tahiti/Society Islands, Fiji and the Cook Islands.

Q: Can you tell us a bit about water sports in the South Pacific?

You can do everything in, around and on the water! From world-class diving and snorkeling, to surfing, sailing, jet-boat or steam ship, you can experience it all in the South Pacific.
