A feeling of refined elegance characterizes your experience aboard our five-star fleet. In public rooms, rich polished woods, fresh flowers and comfortable furnishings create an inviting atmosphere in which to gather. And from the moment you arrive, you are welcomed as an honored friend would be in a fine private home.
Naturally, this kind of personal service is a direct result of the size of our ships. Our mid-sized ships are purposefully designed to accommodate fewer guests, resulting in more space per guest than any other premium cruise line.
For guests, the benefits are many:
- A sense of spaciousness throughout the ship, from generously proportioned public rooms to plenty of outdoor viewing room.
- A wide variety of spacious staterooms, most with ocean views or private verandahs.
- More personal attention
- Prompt seating and easy access to services
- Smooth embarkation, disembarkation and tendering
Is it possible that a vacation could offer something for everyone? Yes, aboard a Holland America Line cruise. Our ships, programs and even menus are designed to appeal to diverse ages and interests, from culinary classes to teen dance parties. So each member of the family can do his or her own “thing” and spend plenty of time together. What better way to make lasting family memories?
There’s always something for each member of the family to do — from kids to grandparents — either together or separately. You can play together in one of the ship’s swimming pools. Learn about and explore the destinations you visit. Go to a live show or movie. Or just enjoy being together as a family again.
We have expanded our kids’ Club HAL® program, with more activities catering to a broad range of interests and age groups to inspire creativity and social interaction. There is more to see and do than ever before. We have also expanded our facilities for kids and added a special area for teens.
We have enhanced our Club HAL program to cater to children from ages 3 to 12 and expanded the facilities. Younger kids will enjoy a fanciful area where paintbrushes serve as pillars and enormous pencils adorn the wall. Art tables, a big-screen TV and a huge tape dispenser that’s really a slide help create a space where kids can be kids. And there’s a separate hangout for ’tweens that’s cool and modern with karaoke, foosball, Internet access and electronic games.
Teens crave a special place to call their own, and that’s just what we’ve created for kids ages 13 to 17. The bright colors and funky patterns of The Loft reflect the romance of an artist’s loft in New York. An exclusive spiral staircase leads to a secluded teen deck called The Oasis (select ships) that’s unmatched in the cruise industry.
On our crisp white linen, course after course arrives. Behind the scenes, our master chefs have brought flavors to perfection. For an elegant breakfast, leisurely lunch or unforgettable five-course dinner, the main Dining Room is your destination for elegant dining aboard.
At each table, a team of two expert wait staff work in harmony to ensure perfect service and masterful presentation.
In the Caribbean, you might begin with a chilled peach and ginger soup, followed by grilled mahi mahi with roasted corn salsa and plantains. One level of the main dining room is reserved for open seating and the other hosts sittings at 5:45PM and 8PM. Tables in the main dining room are set with crisp white linens, sparkling crystal and sophisticated Rosenthal china. Fine artwork and antiques adorn the room. And expansive two-tiered dining offers sweeping sea views.

Culinary Arts Program
Our groundbreaking Culinary Arts Center, presented by Food & Wine magazine, blends guests’ love for food and entertaining into a unique, interactive experience like no other.
The heart of the Culinary Arts Center is an innovative show kitchen outfitted with multiple large plasma video screens that capture fine details close-up. Try new wine and food pairinsg with a renowned guest vintner. Or watch as our pastry chefs demonstrate the secrets of classic Austrian strudel.
Younger guests get into the kitchen too with special workshops for children and teens like “Let’s Make Breakfast,” “Silly Sushi” and a “Smooth Sailing” smoothie-making class.
On select cruises, some of America’s leading chefs, cooking show hosts, cookbook authors and beverage experts are on board to lead demonstrations and classes, sign books and present specially designed dinner menus.
