Ensemble Experiences in South America

Our hosted cruises offer many benefits including a complimentary, private excursion for Ensemble travellers in one port of call.

Called the "Ensemble Experience", these excursions are hosted by an Ensemble® Travel Group member who escorts the group along with the guide and driver, local experts who meet you at the ship.

Upon arrival on board you will receive a letter of welcome from your host and an invitation to meet your fellow Ensemble travellers at a private cocktail party. At the party you can mix and mingle with your fellow travellers and receive more details about the private excursion and where and when to meet.

In South America there is a wonderful variety of Ensemble Experiences offered from Cartagena to Punta Arenas. These tours are currently listed for the 2009-2010 hosted cruises with more in the planning stages.

  • Cartagena, Colombia: Cartagena Highlights
Tour the famed walled city that had been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site then embark on a 45-minute boat ride around Cartagena's inner bay to see more historic sites. Afterwards enjoy a traditional lunch at Cartagena's Yacht Club, located in one of the fortresses overlooking the bay.
  • Santarem, Brazil: Santarem Highlights and Alter do Chao Village
This scenic coach tour visits local sites and markets. Tour includes lunch and a colourful folkloric show at Beloater Hotel located on the edge of Green Lake.
  • Salvador, Brazil: Salvador Explorer
Spend a morning exploring this city, renowned for its African influenced cuisine, music and architecture. After a scenic photo stop, take a walking tour of the historic Upper City then drive across the city for panoramic views of the shoreline. See the "Orixás" sculptures before stopping at the Porteira Steak House where you will be served slices of sizzling beef, sausage, regional cheese and fried manioc straight from the grill, along with a caipirinha drink.
  • Punta Arenas, Chile: Punta Arenas and its Founders' Story, with Lunch
Explore the highlights of intriguing Punta Arenas, one of the most remote and southerly cities in the world, located on the Strait of Magellan. Enjoy a typical lamb barbecue lunch and sheep shearing show before returning to the pier.
  • Manta, Ecuador: Hidden Treasures of Manteno Handicrafts and a Taste of Authentic Cuisine
Discover the fascinating port of Manta, beginning with a drive along the Malecón, the city's oceanfront drive, passing the new town and the wealthy residential areas on your way to visit a Tagua nut factory! Continue on to a typical ranch where manteños will demonstrate the production of the famed Panama hat. Drive about 35 minutes past beautiful beaches and picturesque coastal town to Pacoche, located in the middle of a tropical forest reserve, for a cooking demonstration of local cuisine.
