Privately Escorted Shore Excursions

Ya’lla Tours USA Introduces Privately Escorted Shore Excursions in Havana, Cuba!

More and more American cruise lines are including stops in Havana. Havana is such a historically and culturally rich city, it’s important for cruise passengers to maximize their limited time in port. With our private shore excursions, shore visits are customizable and time-efficient. Passengers see and do what they want and move from place to place faster than they would as part of a large shore excursion group operated by the cruise line.

In 2002, Ya’lla Tours USA was the first American tour operator licensed by the United States Treasury Department to operate trips to Cuba for American travelers. Our 15 years of experience is evident in our comprehensive and unique itineraries and our ability to navigate the logistical idiosyncrasies of this very special destination.

We are currently offering four shore excursion programs in Havana, summarized below:

Havana Art

Art in many forms is highly valued in Cuba; spend just a short time there and this fact becomes very apparent. Take in a range of Cuban art in this program including visits to the Museum of Fine Arts, the Villa Manuela gallery, the Museum of Decorative Arts, the Proyecto Muraleando community art project, the home studio of artist Jose Fuster, and the Centro de Arte Contemporaneo Wilfred Lam.

Jewish Heritage

The Jewish community in Cuba is small but its history on the island is significant. In this program, learn about this history and meet leaders of two congregations. Visit the Centro Hebreo Sefaradi de Cuba (Sephardic Center), Adath Israel (Orthodox congregation), the only kosher butcher in Cuba, and the Jewish Cemetery of Guanabacoa, with the first Holocaust memorial in the Americas.
(This tour is not available on Saturday or Sundays.)

Havana Old City

The complexities of historical and contemporary Cuba are represented nowhere better than in the open-air, living museum that is Old Havana. Walk through several historical city squares dating from colonial times and surrounded by beautiful, grand buildings and charming narrow lanes. Meet artists at El Taller experimental graphic workshop in Cathedral Square. At the Palacio de la Artesania, watch a cigar rolling demonstration and have an opportunity to sample some Cuban cigars and rum. Visit El Floridita Bar, a favorite of Ernest Hemingway. Browse the outdoor handicraft market for unique, original mementos.

Pinar Del Rio

Visit the stunning landscapes of Pinar del Rio province, about a 2 ½ hour drive from Havana. This is the primary tobacco growing region on the island. Visit a tobacco farm and an organic produce farm, where lunch will be served. Then tour the Guayabita del Pinar rum factory.

All tours include private transfers from/to the port, a private guide, site entrance fees, lunch, bottled water and tips.

More programs in Havana and other areas of the island are coming soon. These tours are open to customization, within the limits of US regulations on travel to Cuba.
