Reef, rainforest, mountains, deserts and breathtaking coastlines that go on forever; Australia and New Zealand’s diverse terrain makes it a prime destination for those seeking natural beauty, nature and adventure!
Known as the adventure capital of the world, New Zealand has it all. Kiwi ingenuity and innovation created the Jet boat, ski plane, bungy, blokart and zorb. They embody the sense of adventure that is found across the islands of this great country.
Queenstown is regarded as the center of adventure. Here it is easy to experience a range of adventure activities close to your hotel. From high pumping adrenalin activities to more sedate hiking and walking, or exploring the local wineries, there's plenty to do in the picturesque town in the Southern Alps, on the shores of Lake Wakatipu.
New Zealand's many hiking tracks here amongst the best in the world. Enjoy a few hours taking in the magnificent scenic beauty and wonderful fresh air or undertake a trek of several days, like the famed Milford Track in Fiordland National Park.
Tasmania, Australia's island state is also referred to as the 'natural state'. It's another outstanding place for mountain hikes and walks in its many rugged wilderness areas most of which are protected parks. Walk through pristine fern forests, past cascading waterfalls and along the coast on 880 national park walks. Caving, cycling, mountain biking, hang gliding, rock climbing, kayaking, scuba and white water rafting are other popular adventure activities.
The beautiful and very remote Red Centre of Australia is another exciting place for adventure. Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park is peaceful and stunning with its contrast of red soil and green shurbs and trees. It is distinguished by having two UNESCO World Heritage designations; for culture and natural history. Explore the park's unique rock formations, Uluru (Ayers Rock) and Kata Tjuta (The Olgas) on hikes and small group nature tours for the best experience. Ride a camel, take a scenic flight, quad-bike over sand dunes or cycle the outback - but actually it's an adventure just being in this magical place!
Queensland's Great Barrier Reef, rainforests, highlands and islands create many opportunities for a different type of adventure. Scuba, snorkeling and sailing are superb in the clear, warm waters. Queensland's beaches are renowned for surfing on the coast and swimming at the tranquil white sand beaches of the many coastal islands. From more sedate adventures like the Kuranda Scenic Railway and rainforest cableway to crocodile viewing in Port Douglas, there's a lot to take in here.
For wildlife viewing, Kangaroo Island is a top destination. Here you'll easily come across sea lions on the beach, kangaroos around your hotel grounds and a range of birds in natural settings. There are numerous wildlife viewing areas across Australia and many sanctuaries and reserves to observe the rare species that are only found on this island continent.
Australia and New Zealand are certainly synonymous with adventure and activity. Be exhilarated on your adventure vacation to these remarkable countries!
